John Edwards — Is He or Isn’t He?

Maybe it’s just a gambit to get the press off the investigation into campaign fund misappropriations, but Edwards’ former mistress, Rielle Hunter is now considering seeking a paternity test to determine the paternity of the now year old Frances Quinn Hunter.

Supposedly this is in reaction to the impending release of Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth’s book which tells about her experience of dealing with a cheating husband while battling for your life against cancer. When asked if Frances Hunter is Edwards’ child, by Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday’s show, Elizabeth Edwards responded:

“I’ve seen a picture of the baby,” she said. “I have no idea. It doesn’t look like my children, but I don’t have any idea.”

The Insider has video of Rielle’s sister, Roxanne who speaks out about her ideas on the affair and if it’s over or not. According to her, its very likely that it is not finished between Edwards and Hunter or at the very least that Hunter does not want it to be.

But Edwards has far more to worry about than whether he fathered Frances Quinn Hunter as Federal Investigators look into his possibly having illegally used campaign funds to pay off a woman with whom he had an adulterous affair.

John Brown and One News Now reports

His political action committee paid Hunter’s firm $100,000 for video production in a four-month span in 2006, and then paid an additional $14,000 on April 1, 2007.

Hans Von Spakovsky, a former FEC Commissioner says that it’s hard yet to determine if Edwards broke the law.

“Supposedly this money went to this woman’s video production company for doing work for the campaign. What they’re going to be investigating is whether that’s really true, whether those payments were actually for that or whether that was basically a cover for making payments to his one-time mistress,” he points out. “And that’s going to take an investigation to see what work was actually performed, if any, for this payment.”

Whatever the outcome of this investigation, there’s no denying that the interview on Oprah was awkward and uncomfortable for both Edwards and his wife. I believe body language tells a lot about what a person is really meaning and his in this interview is very revealing. Watch it and tell me what you think…is the affair over?
