Today I’m asking YOU what’s on your mind. What are you talking about to other people? Are you talking politics, finances, morality, the latest movie, who won American Idol?
What is the subject that’s on your mind today?
You know, minds are like hard drives — they take in a lot of data, put some mojo on it and then spin it out in a different form. You could actually be talking about all those things. Can you take your blog’s subject, throw in something about an American Idol winner or contestant or judge and write an article?
Here are some spins on Idol winners and all these other subjects. Maybe not in one article, but you’ll get the drift.
The Business Mirror has an article about how American Idol and investment returns are related — you should read it — it’s really interesting… I mean REALLY interesting stuff!
Mashable has a post about how Google search trends can predict Idol results — how how quirky is that? talk about making statistics into something almost fun. I did say ALMOST….
Previous Idol winner Taylor Hicks is going to perform in Grease as Teen Angel while this year’s runner-up winner Adam Lambert may have a spot with Queen now that Paul Rodgers has left the band. — OK, so Idol winners going to star in movies and perform in bands isn’t so weird. Actually, it’s what they went through all that stuff for, isn’t it??
Well, since Kris Allen was a surprise winner over the clear judges’ favorite of Adam Lambert, the question of gay vs. Christian has been brought up, discussed and dismissed — at least on this blog.
What kind of spin can you put on Idol chatter?

Well, I am not a fan of any Idol shows. The reason is because of the text messaging voting system that simply can’t determine who the ‘real’ winner is.

Ah but the exercise here is to use it in your blog subject in a manner conducive to getting conversation going.
I don’t care for it either — I think the first couple of weeks are solely to see just how desperate people are to get on t.v. and the hosts seem to delight in humiliating them which to me is terribly degrading to watch and the end of the process is equally degrading as it’s not based on a persons’ talent at all, but how popular he or she can make themselves with viewers.
Yes, you are right. Actually I was very interested in the show for the first two seasons but after that everything just falls apart. I believe that those who enter are popularity seeker but I do like Kelly Clarkson and only her.
Personally, if I never hear about American Idol again it will be too soon. Overkill!

Patricia — I look forward to the end of the season for all the reality shows because, well, I’ve just had too much reality by then.
I’m also afraid that we are degrading the values we hold dear by popularizing the manner in which these shows are put on. It seems to me that we highlight scheming, cheating, lying, conniving and vote buying in the process of elimination that’s used to determine the winners of these shows.
Not values I particularly want my children and grandchildren to eschew.
There are always a lot of things in my mind everyday too.

I was just searching for about this when I came by your post. I’m simply stopping by to say that I definitely enjoyed reading this post, it is very well written. Are you going to write more on this? It looks like there is more depth here for more posts.
Every move Simon Cowell makes is now coloured by how it will look on TV… having said that, I agree with almost everything he says.
Ken — Yes he is very forthright with his opinions — pulls no punches whatsoever. There’s no sugarcoating to his commentary which certainly leaves the ones who receive his praises feeling pretty darned good about themselves.
