I haven’t posted in a few days because we’ve been all wound up in personal tragedy. No, no relatives died and you won’t read about it on the news anywhere, but it’s still very sad for us.
If you don’t know us (and most of you dear readers don’t), we breed and show and rescue Whippets. I won’t go into what a Whippet is — you can find that out for yourselves, but suffice to say, we think they are a wonderful breed of dog that has a lot of redeeming qualities.
Someone found this dog wandering the streets of Indianapolis, IN and took her to their vet. The vet tech is also a Whippet breeder/owner and posted about the dog on a forum called Whippet World. Her pictures grabbed my heart (along with everyone else’s on the board!) and so, Skinny Marie came to South Carolina to live with us. That was in 2004.
In the four years she lived with us, she delighted us with her little, prissy at times, outright bi*** at other times, ways. She was a bundle of dynamite in this tiny 14lb frame.
Well, you’ll see abit of her personality shine through for yourselves in this video tribute I made for her.
The last photo in this montage where she’s draped over another dog is where we took our 15-1/2 year old to the vet when she had to be put to sleep because she could no longer walk, didn’t want to eat and it was just time. Skinny draped herself over Bridget to bring comfort to her friend as we said good bye. Then, just 3 days later, Skinny joined Bridget at the Rainbow Bridge.
We’re going to miss them both, but the little Whippet who could holds a place in our hearts forever.

Holly’s last blog post..So, lets start talking about Valentines Day!
That is quite unfortunate, but at least you were kind enough to take her in and give her a proper home in her last years.
