Our day started very early as we are not used to the time change and since our usual wake-up time is 4:00AM Eastern, we were both awake at 3:30 AM Pacific which technically was sleeping in for us :)

You may be asking, how, out of all the Las Vegas hotels we COULD have chosen did we end up staying here. Well, it all started with a phone call.

We had been talking about going to Las Vegas to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary anyway and when this call came from Westgate resort offering two nights at PH for a very reasonable rate, Ken thought it would be a good deal. They extended the rate to the additional nights we wanted to stay and were open to any date we chose, so it all sounded perfect for our situation. All we had to do was agree to go on a 45 minute tour of the new facilities they are pimping selling timeshares to.

We’re scheduled to do the tour on Thursday, so be sure to check back to hear how that went. They are pretty hungry, so I’m betting we don’t get out in 45 minutes despite our not being at all interested in time shares, but we’ll see.

To continue the day, though.. We entertained ourselves until 7AM which was when the restaurant opened for breakfast. And with our by then raging appetites, went downstairs to the Spice Market Buffet for a very good albeit very expensive breakfast (whatever happened to the cheap food that was supposed to be in Vegas??). Then we set off in search of somewhere to secure a tuxedo for tonight for Ken. The chapel where we’re going to renew our vows recommended a rental place that wasn’t too far from our hotel and we got there just in time to get Ken fitted and then get him over to the MGM Grand where he was to meet the bus that would take him to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for his Richard Petty Experience and my gift to him for our anniversary. I went back to the rental place to pick up the now altered tux and headed back to PH as I had a 1PM appointment to have my hair and nails done.

Ken’s due back from LVMS at 5:00PM giving him just enough time to shower and change before the limo picks us up to take us to Graceland Chapel where we will renew our vows. Elvis is supposed to not only sing a few songs, but actually preside over the ceremony — I know — corny, but hey what do you expect from a couple of rednecks anyway :P I couldn’t have it getting too serious you know! Or too mushy! That would have totally been out of character for both of us besides which we need stories for the grand kids.

Well, it’s time for me to head to the spa, so I’ll stop for now and fill the rest in later — maybe MUCH later, if you know what I mean ;)

    Hi Margret-

The strip is nice but spendy. Try the Silverton – it’s kinda a long drive, but they have a really cool aquarium and the prices are a lot more reasonable for a meal. Much closer to PH, Ken might enjoy a little trigger time at the Gun Store on Tropicana, you guys can even shoot machine guns… a nice but SPENDY place to eat is Morton’s on Paradise and Flamingo. Cheap buffet is at Sam’s Town- food is okay, but not spectacular. Table limits are a lot lower too. ;)
