Come my friend let’s sit awhile
We’ll share a joke; We’ll share a smile
And before our visit is marked through
We’ll share what’s new with me; what’s new with you.

Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, NV — check in and day one

Posted By ê¿ê on March 17th, 2008

Ken and I have begun our week long stay at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. I thought I would chronicle our stay and review the new facilities.

Our room has one king sized bed in it with a 50″ flat plasma television, armoire and this huge bathroom with shower, spa tub and dressing area with mirror fit for a movie star. A hair dryer and shampoo, conditioner, soap and nice fluffy purple towels. There is a nice desk for setting up a mini office and a small table with one chair if you want to sit somewhere besides on the bed to watch television or have a drink or snack.

They have thoughtfully provided you with two large bottles of water to which a very large sign is attached to each one informing you that if you consume said bottle of water, your room will incur a $4.95 charge. With the water, there are two glasses and a small ice bucket with tongs.

Internet is available either wired or wireless for $14.99 per day.

That is the sum total of room amenities.

We stayed at a LaQuinta last night that had free internet, an in-room refrigerator, microwave and although not a 50″ television, certainly one that was adequate for our viewing needs.

I need to have a dress pressed for our vow renewal ceremony tomorrow night, but they can’t get it back to me before 7PM and that’s when the ceremony is, so I will have to search out an iron tomorrow so I can press my dress and my husband’s shirt.

I have discovered that they do not get in any hurry out here. I thought we were slow and laid back in the South, but let me tell you, the word “express” out here means a minimum of 45 minutes.

Day one has not been the most wonderful of days, but once we have rested and gotten a decent meal down, I think things will look up. We have a lot of fun things planned for the week. I just hope this cold I’ve managed to come down with doesn’t put a total damper on the week. It’s only once that you celebrate 25 years.

Till tomorrow…

Happy 25 year anniversary! We stayed at the Flamingo before and I felt like we were paying for every move we make, from the water to the Internet.

Anyway, hopefully this is just a small bump to a lovely week-long stay. Have a great time!

You are not suppose to tell us that stuff! Haven’t you heard…What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! I’m not surprised though. I lived there over 30 years and Vegas used to be incredible. Up until the late 70’s when the MOB ran everything all the stuff you are talking about was free. the only part of the hotel that had to make money was the casino. Everything else could run at a loss which made for great bargains for you and me if we stayed out of the casino. Nowadays big corporations run Vegas and everything has to make money and thats just the way it is. Hopefully, it won’t put a damper on your festivities. There is still only one Vegas on the planet. Drop by and visit anytime… Rick
