I’ve bought and sold real estate in my years on this earth. Sometimes it’s been a painless experience, but more often it’s been quite painful. A lot of that pain was due to my Real Estate Agent. Either he or she was working both sides of the street (to my detriment) or he or she was just not a good agent. There are no real guidelines to choosing an agent, which is a shame. Having some guidelines to help me determine who would be a good agent for me would have helped me make better decisions about the properties I was buying or selling. It’s no fun learning this stuff by experience!

She’s also given me hints about what to look for in my next home - how not to be swayed by a pretty decor and to look behind the curtains for hidden problems.
