Page Rankand SEO

Lots of buzz going on the Net these days about Google Page Ranking and Search Engine Optimizations. It seems, according to SitePro News, Google is coming down hard on blogs and sites with paid ads other than Adsense ads. Courtney Tuttle’s blog talks about sites whos page rank has nosedived since Google “found out” they had paid links on them.
There evidently is some criteria for if the link is truly a paid link or if it’s a product endorsement. It’s all making my head whirl!
I don’t know if this is true or not, but I’m working hard to gain some kind of page rank for this blog.
Some tips I’ve gathered from various sources indicate that I should employ the following tactics:
1. Add content to your website. Make your website so good and so useful that people will link to you without you asking for a link.
2. Write articles and get them published on other websites and blogs with a link back to your site.
3. Distribute online press releases
4. Judiciously exchange links, or even better, exchange content (containing links back to your site) with other websites.
5. Get your site listed in online directories
Since this is a blog, not a website, a press release seems out of order, but the other suggestions are good ones and ones I’m working on.
All this being said, I also understand that Google has not updated Page Ranks in nearly 6 months (other than the ones alledgedly targetted for selling ads) now where they used to update them every 90 days, so there is also some speculation going on that PR may be going away.
All I know for sure is that my PR is 0 and I think I want more
