Which Watch is Right?

I’ve been without a watch for nearly a year now. Most of the time I don’t miss it as I either have the clock on the computer screen or my cell phone to refer to for the time, but there are occasions where it’s not feasible to have either item with me, so then I have to rely on others having a time piece. That’s getting to be rather inconvenient, so I thought it past time that I find a watch.

I’ve come across a site for watches that provides me with almost too much information! When you first arrive at Kenmarwatches.com, you aren’t faced with a slick, web 2.0 website. It’s utilitarian in looks, but possesses wonderfully easy navigation and you’ll right off notice the many different methods of finding a watch or clock. You can search by price, by manufacturer, by style and even by color! I didn’t realize so many watches were available in pink!

Kenmar screenshotYou’re also presented with nice thumbnail images of the watches and when you hover over one of them, it opens up this magnified version in a small window that automatically closes when you move your mouse off of it. I really like that feature! I don’t mind the windows opening, but hate having to click them closed. You don’t have to do that with this site.

Betsey Johnson cuff watchI found a very pretty Betsey Johnson cuff watch that I have ordered — it was only $54! When I went to order it, I was surprised to find an option I’ve never seen before on any other site…it was a button that said “make an offer”. Being the curious sort, I clicked it and found that I can make an offer for this watch.  There is a spot on the form to include a competitor’s URL and they have a “Nobody Beats Us” policy stating they will beat other competitors on price. So now I’ll search the internet for other sellers of this watch to see what I can find.

Kenmar Watches Order screenIf you’re reluctant to order through the web, they also have a 1-800 number you so you can place your order via the phone and state that if you order by 2:00 PM, you’ll be wearing your watch within 24 hours which I don’t understand when you’re given the different shipping methods. And shipping itself wasn’t too terribly expensive — so often when a site like this has such cut-rate pricing (my search shows this is the lowest price anywhere and by a pretty significant amount!), they try to make up for it by jacking up the shipping price, but I didn’t find $13.99 too terrible a price to pay for shipping.  You’re also provided many options from extended warranties to insurance on shipping for reasonable amounts. Even with shipping, the watch will cost me less than the next cheapest price I could find on the internet ($69.32 for the watch, insurance and shipping compared to $72.94 for just the watch). Also, most other sites stated the watch is out of stock, but Kenmar Watches states that it is in stock for them, so I should have no wait.

When I hovered over other watches on the site, I noticed right away that it notified you that that particular item was out of stock, so you knew before you got to the ordering process that your item was not available.

They have more manufacturers listed than I can begin to remember, but all the famous ones are there. Whether you’re looking for Fossil watches or Seth Thomas clocks, you’ll find it here.

I beg to differ with you about shipping for something as small as a watch. You all tease me about ordering from QVC but their watches will ship for around $6:00, and they have a nice selection of watches. I know Ken doesn’t want you to watch QVC but you can bring them up on the computer at QVC.com.

What a lovely watch. Even if I convert the price into my local currency (which is about 10 for 1 of yours), the price is still excellent for that classy looking watch.

Mom — I do appreciate the many valuable things at QVC and am not all that opposed to it at all — we tease you about your addiction to it, not it’s existence! My point about the shipping was that it wasn’t as bad a markup as I’ve seen at other sites that give really cheap prices for quality items. When you figure the costs of boxes, packing material and labor to pull, pack and ship the item $13.99 wasn’t out of sight.

Lyndi — thanks!I’m glad you liked it too.

The watch you chose is very pretty. Feminine too. :)

I’ve seen that “make an offer” thing before, but never tried it out.

I haven’t worn a watch in I don’t know how long. I always have my cell with me… but periodically I do think about getting one. It’s like a useful piece of jewelry – because of it’s function, I’d be more likely to wear it. I also like a watch I can leave on all the time, otherwise I’d likely not wear it. I may check this site out. Looks like they’d have everything you may want and then some!
