Today is a very VERY special day!Ken and Margaret

On March 18, 1983 Ken Norkett and I committed to each other in a civil ceremony presided over by his cousin and witnessed by my mother to became man and wife.

I can’t say that the last 26 years have been all smooth sailing, but I CAN say that they have been rich and rewarding. The love I receive from this man is a very rare gift that I often don’t appreciate the way I should.

He’s a pretty wonderful guy who treats me like a queen, is a good father, a hard worker and an all-round NICE person!

When I hear my co-workers talking about their spouses, I realize just what a prize I have in Ken. He’s not put off when I ask him to wear a pink shirt, star in a goofy video nor is he so possessive of me that I can’t have friends of my own. People are often amazed at how adult our relationship is. We don’t suffer from jealousy or insecurity where our relationship is concerned. We love and respect each other.

When we married, we vowed then that we would always seek ways to overcome any adversities instead of resorting to separation or divorce. Seeing how it’s worked out, I can’t help but wonder if that’s why so many marriages fail — from a lack of commitment to the relationship.

But I digress — this wasn’t supposed to be a post about anything but what a great day today is for me today.

Happy Anniversary, sweetheart! What do you say let’s go for another 26!

Next month will be 32 for us and I thank him everyday for the wonderful life we have.
Even with the rough times, I’d do this again in a minute.

Thank you, Patricia. I didn’t say a thing about him that wasn’t true. And, no, he wouldn’t say similar stuff on his blog. #1 he doesn’t have a blog, and #2, I’m not nearly the person he is! He puts up with a lot from me :P

Congratulations! Great post. I love how you didn’t pretend it’s been all roses and sunshine for all those years – all marriages have their ups and downs, but it’s couples like you who stick it out through the tough times that are rewarded with a deep and rich love that lasts for many, many years. Big congrats to you both!

Yes I remember thatday 26 years ago. We used the livingroom for the ceremony. The only time we used that room in that house. You were raising a coub=ple of dogs, ghickens, a goat and one horse. Since then you have been through more horses, geese I think there was another goat.various cats and more dogs. Now it is umteen dogs and birds. Over the years there have been many changes.Love Mom

Congrats on the 26 years. That is such an achievement. Lately you always here about divorce and most couples only lasting a few years.. Good luck on the next 26. We are approaching 8 but in 18 more years I hope I too can make a post/statement like this.
