After 3 days of sleepless nights and untold worry, our prodigal Whippet has returned to the fold.
This morning as I was cleaning kennels and doing the morning feed, I kept hearing dogs in the area barking and carrying on and hoped against hope that it was because there was a little white Whippet invading their space.
I drove around and called and whistled but still never caught sight of her, so went back home to get ready for work. Ken left for work himself a bit after I got back and I settled down at the computer to pay some bills.
About 10 minutes later, I heard my dogs begin barking and saw Ken’s van coming back up the driveway. I figured he had forgotten something and was just about to go meet him when in he comes with Butterfly in his arms.
We both cried tears of joy at his finding her!
I had just about given up hope as there had been no reports of anyone sighting her and despite our trolling the roads and Ken’s tromping through the woods all day Saturday, we hadn’t seen her either. That’s not a good sign. There has been a lot of hunting going on and I had just about figured some redneck had shot her or something equally reprehensible had happened to her.
I will probably never know where she’s been the past 3 days, but am so thankful that she’s home and other than a few scratches and being somewhat thin, she appears to be just fine.
Now maybe I can get some sleep tonight.
Life is good again….all it took was a little Whippet

Wow what a relief! And what a great photo for this post =) I’ve tagged you Margaret! I want to know more about you!!
Good News! Quite cheered me up.
It reminded me of a fine book I read ‘Julius Winsome’ by Gerard Donovan – the character’s dog is not so lucky with the hunters, I’m afraid, but it’s a fine read.

Oh thank goodness! I have been hugging Scarlett extra tight and hoping for her litter sister’s safe return. It is getting too cold out there for a whippet at night without shelter!
@Reggie — Thanks darling! I don’t do memes — can’t let you have all my secrets in one place, you know. Besides, there’s absolutely NOTHING weird about me
@Ken — thanks — I’ll have to hunt that up and give it a read.
@Erin — you said it! Janet was praying for her recovery also. I can’t tell you how upset I’ve been.
