Trakr, a German shepherd that with his handler was one of the first to arrive and begin searching for survivors on September 12, 2001 at the site of the World Trade Center is the winner of the Golden Clone Giveaway, a competition that sought the most cone-worthy dog. Presented with 5 puppies named Trust, Valor, Prodigy, Solace and Deja Vu one of which is an “exact replica of Trakr” according to Trakr’s owner and handler, former Canadian police officer James Symington said.
Trakr is now dead, so his clones will pick up where he left off.
Symington says that Trust is an exact replica of Trakr. “The physical similarities are uncanny,” he told AFP. “He’s the spitting image of the Trakr that I first met in 1995. He has exactly the same markings, the way he moves, everything. Very alert, very intelligent and intuitive.”
BioArts boss Lou Hawthorne said dog cloning, at about $144,000 per clone, would remain beyond the reach of ordinary pet lovers. But that won’t and hasn’t stopped those with the means from seeking to recreate a beloved companion.
Cloning is a controversial topic in the US as it challenges religious beliefs on many different fronts. Despite the fact that cloning isn’t truly a way to raise the dead, it may be possible one day to use ancestry dna to recreate an Abraham Lincoln .

Yeah, playing God is kinda like a taboo place to touch and a borderline that we are not supposed to cross. I mean, look at those movies, clones may have a body and a brain but it doesn’t really have a rael “soul”
But I do wish I have my beautiful Labrador (called Nigel) and Beagle (called Odie) brought back to life
.-= Michael Aulia´s last blog ..7 things to love and hate about Opera Unite =-.
Michael — Well, I don’t know about the “soul” part, but just having the body and looks of the clonee, evidently doesn’t make the clone an exact copy after all. There must be something else still missing in the formula used by the scientists who do this process or something they do to the genetic material makes it change — not a scientist here although I do play one on t.v.
I have a couple of dogs and one cat that I wouldn’t mind still having around myself. The dog has been gone for nearly 10 years now while the cat has been gone even longer than that, but some animals just grab your heart and don’t let go. My hope is that I see them again when I go to my reward.
I’m replying here because for some reason I couldn’t on the post you wrote about google key words. I wish I had known you were writing an article to help me. I saw a little blurb about it this am on Technorati, when I again checked for about 25th time to see if it was yet working. AND it still isn’t. Sorta pointless for me to join and not be able to add a widget to do anything on it. Ever since I joined it’s been down. I think this is the 3rd wk in a row?
Back to the business at hand. What is the 31 day challenge or 31 days to be a better blogger you referred to?
I’ve read a bit, often people don’t explain well or in a manner I understand. I even looked at, or rather tried to google key words and didn’t understand it at all. There was another site that listed the top 100 words to use for a travel blog and I’ve been trying to use them in my text; but didn’t know until reading your post that those are too generic and that the words for a “travel blog” should change with each post, and be used in the tags/labels. Thanks for the tip on that. I’m not sure I understand how to read the report thing you posted, and will have another look at it. I’m happy to say my page rank has gone up to a 2 but I would like to roll upward. I have lots of pictures of California, but it’s not my home state. I’m actually from Ohio. lol I’ve not posted much about it. The California pictures are some of more recent photo’s on the computer, while others are on a disc somewhere…I need to dig them out and share some of my other travels.
I’m also very confused on my Alexa ranking and don’t know, based on what I see on other blogs whether I’m striving for a high number or a low number? Can you explain that to me?
Thanks for your brain, and I’m still loving my little suitcase with legs. Do you also design banners?
Sandy
I’m gonna click technorati since you have a badge, which will connects us there; even though for the time being I can do zip from my own page. When I click on widget there to get code etc, I get the canned error message doh…it’s escaped again.
LOL — Sandy — Let’s see where to begin…
Alexa rank — you want lower — under 100K is good.
Keywords are tough even for me, so I completely understand where you are coming from! Usually, I write my post, look for the 2-3 word phrases that might be the type of things someone would be typing into Google to look for then do the search for keywords from the link I posted. If I can tweak them by a word or two to get a higher search result with fewer competitive sites, I’ll do that. Then I’ll use them as my tags. I don’t always find something with the great combination of high search to low competition especially on the subject of SEO, but I try for as good as I can.
Yes I design banners.
No help with Technorati — I’m there but not often. I stumble and Mixx more than anything.
Sandy — I don’t visit Technorati often — yes I’m registered and yes I have the badge. Stumble is my social network of choice although I do also post to Mixx every once in awhile.
You have to balance the statistics of the report in your mind. You want to use keywords that people are using, but ones that don’t appear in other sites too often. So if you have 100 people looking for Alcatraz tours, and there are 200 sites that are using that phrase, that’s not a good enough keyword phrase. Look for something like Alcatraz ghost tours or Alcatraz bird sanctuary tours and see what the “hits” (people looking for that word combination) versus how many sites that combo exists on. The better that ratio is, the more likely you are to appear on Google’s front page.
Alexa ranking should be as low a number as you can get. Mine is currently 136K which is not too bad but it’s been better than that.
Yes I design banners, blog headers — any graphics you want.
While I understand why they would want to continue this dog in some manner, I don’t approve of cloning….still too Hitlerish in my opinion.
Sorry, completely forgot to add anything about your actual post.
