Whether you’re old or young, smart or stupid, everyone goes through times of depression. You just feel down, you have no energy, you can’t get interested in the things you normally are interested in.
Many times, there is a reason for these emotions — well, if we’re honest with ourselves, there is ALWAYS a reason for them. Often we don’t want to face those issues, so won’t admit that there is something bothering us.
Lately, I have been feeling less than Beautifeel. I have several reasons for being down.
On a global scale, the coming elections have me worried. Neither candidate is ideal in my mind, so once again, I seem to be stuck choosing the lesser of two evils.
The price of things has been going up and my salary has not, so I have less and less discretionary funds. I’m trying hard not to use my credit cards for any purchases whatsoever as staying out of debt seems to be a “best practice” these days, but it’s hard. We have birthdays and Christmas coming up…
On a personal scale, I have one dog who is recovering from emergency surgery. This has turned my house and schedule upside down as she has to stay sequestered from the rest until she has healed and my stupid male won’t leave her alone — No! Tigger, she’s NOT in heat!
And I have another that has gone missing. The missing dog is my heart dog. She’s the one whom I have a lot of myself invested in. I have had her since the day she was born and she will (please God) celebrate her 4th birthday in December. Ken and I have spent the last 3 days combing the woods and fields around the house, driving up and down the roads calling her name and whistling for her. We’ve put up countless signs asking for people to call us if they’ve seen her anywhere (her photo is on the signs). I can’t sleep.
I have to go back to work tomorrow. Life will have to go on whether I find Butterfly or not, but my heart isn’t in it.
