Ok — maybe this is just going to be one of those posts that can be categorized as TMI (too much information), but I just have to tell…..
I joined a gym a couple of months ago, hired a personal trainer for 4 sessions to get me started on an exercise program to help me tone up and maybe even lose some weight. My main purpose was to stave off needing knee replacement surgery, but I’m getting way more than these limited results.
Well, I can’t report any significant weight loss, but the toning is happening! W00T!!
You’ve seen ladies where they have flaps for upper arms and these bulges under their arms like their boobs had slid sideways, haven’t you? Maybe even your grandmother had this condition (I know mine sure did!). Well, I was headed there with all the speed of an express train. I even talked to a friend of mine who is a nurse for a plastic surgeon. She was telling me they could fix all that, so I was figuring I was doomed to this condition since there’s no way I could afford plastic surgery!
But, the exercise is working! The flappy underarm wings are going away and my boobs are pointing more straight ahead like they should instead of sagging down and to the sides. I’m actually not ashamed to wear my sleeveless t shirts out in public!
Oh! And that’s not to even tell the greatest news of all! My ass is shrinking, too! Although I’m definitely of the Caucasian persuasion, I have had an ass to rival any African American’s for years. Sad but true. Ken remarked last night that there wasn’t as much there as there used to be. The tape measure confirmed it.
Now, I don’t know where this stuff is going since as I said, I haven’t lost much weight to speak of, but wherever it’s going, I’m truly glad of it! And I sincerely hope it stays wherever it is (if it’s on your body, I’m so sorry, but you’ll just have to find some skinny person to pass it on to — I don’t want it back!)
And, sorry to disappoint, Nicole, but I haven’t purchased any new support garments in quite some time, so it’s not from a new bra (push up or otherwise!) or body stocking
There is still a long ways to go as I have plenty of flab to go around. I’m just really pumped over these beginning results. Takes the sting out of the scale not going down.

Good headline by the way! Lol. I it’s good to read that other people are taking the chance and going to the gym to get in shape. I use to do it often and I was in tip top shape. Now I am what the doctors call morbidly obese but I would like to call hefty hefty hefty! At least I am not wimpy wimpy wimpy. Sorry, bad joke. Anyway, I am starting my workout as well and it keeps my spirits high knowing that other people are benefiting by doing the same. No surrender no retreat. Bookmarked. You keep writing it. I’ll keep reading it.

Congratulations, keep it up. I still have far too many kilos to go but it is sooo difficult.

great job! I hope you’re doing the before and after pictures so you can look back and be encouraged by the changes. Sometimes pictures tell a better story than the scale or tape measure especially in the face.

Congratulations Margaret.
It sounds like you’re replacing fat with muscle, a handful of muscle weighs more than a handful of fat, so you’re not losing weight, but you are losing bulk, as well as creating a more defined physique. You must be feeling brilliant!
