I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m possessed by (or of) a rather active imagination.

I can read a story and visualize what’s going on. Don’t know if that qualifies as a talent or not.

I also can hear a descriptive sentence and do the same thing, so when yesterday morning’s Nature Notes went into a bit of a graphic description about dissecting a turtle I had this visualization of the creature (which reportedly weighed 23 lbs and had gotten caught in some kind of trap, so was already dead when the student found it) being cut out of it’s shell. Although it wasn’t mentioned, I also got an olfactory sensation (in other words, I smelled it) and let me tell you, what an appetite suppressant that was! I will never be tempted by turtle soup again!

So I’m curious — and desperatly want to believe that I am not alone in this world — do you do that too?  Read or hear something and visualize it to the point of smelling something???

What is your most memorable experience with strong visualization?  Tell us all about it. I want to see if I have it too.

I couldn’t smell it but sure could see it. I almost couldn’t finish the piece of cake I was eating.
