Come my friend let’s sit awhile
We’ll share a joke; We’ll share a smile
And before our visit is marked through
We’ll share what’s new with me; what’s new with you.

Playing FarmTown

FarmTown is in beta version — in other words, it’s a work in process with the millions playing it the testers (unpaid of course!). So it’s no wonder that sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned. I mean who can anticipate all the crazy things people will want to do, right?

Evidently, at first you could overlap fields. This enabled players to double up as it were on crops. Of course in the early days, more space for farming wasn’t available and now it is. At any rate, some of that overlapping still occurs although it’s usually done accidentally rather than on purpose and you’ll see a plowed field over top of a field of something. To get to the ready crop you have to delete the plowed field and then you can harvest the crop underneath. If you ever can’t plow a harvested field, try deleting it — most of the time there’s a plowed field underneath.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that if someone hires a bunch of people to harvest, my avatar tends to run all over the farm. Now THAT is quite aggravating and I find myself quitting the job before it’s finished. Harvesting is the one chore that the developers have not made many changes to. It’s still a slow process that is a one-click-at-a-time and no getting ahead of yourself. That field has to turn to harvested before you can move on to the next one. Get the avatar running to the end of the farm and back for each field and you might begin to understand why I’ll bail out of those jobs. To top it off they are usually raspberries or grapes that only pay 17 coins to the harvester. Not worth the aggravation as far as I’m concerned.

Now that the new crops have been out for awhile, I’m beginning to get bored with them. The pineapples are very pretty when they are in flower, but turn quite ugly when ready to harvest. Maybe that’s what pineapples do in real life — I don’t know. Many of the crops look similar as they progress through their ripening stages. Raspberries, blueberries, cotton and carrots all look a lot alike when in flower.I think the developers should rotate out crops to keep our interest up. There are also a lot of things that could be added to the crop line and the forum is full of suggestions there. Artichokes, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Lettuce, purple cabbage (we have a green cabbage) just to mention a few.

With the way people (self included) like to use game pieces as a form of ceramic tile, having a larger “palette” of crops, paths, fences and water pieces to choose from will just make the game that much more fun!

I know the developers are working hard on this game and they are doing a great job of it! We just need a tweak or two here and there.

I have over 2 million coins – but only have $5.00. If I spend the $5.00 on one of the new topiary – will this also take all of my coins?

No, it will only take the Farm Town Cash not your coins.

You will have to purchase more FT Cash, though for other items that have the FT Cash amounts on them.
