I read blogs — enjoy reading blogs. I see the ads on them and don’t think a thing about them. I even have some on my blog…since I signed up for Adsense, but to have someone PAY me to blog about different products and services, well that was new until a few months ago when I answered an ad in Craigslist.
Since I wrote my first “sponsored” post on this blog, I’ve learned there are good and bad blog advertisers out there. Some try to “game” you by making all these intricate and often changing rules about what posts can be approved for payment. They will reject a post so often the submission date passes and you’ve ended up wasting your time writing for them as you get nothing for your trouble.
Services that pay for blogging are becomming more common out there, but they are NOT all created equal. Some drag their feet for weeks approving your post and then take another several weeks to pay you for it, but there are one or two jewels out there and if you’re lucky enough to
-
a. find them and
b. get approved to write for them
then you have a sweet deal going for you!
Two of the best are Smorty and PayU2Blog. Both of them approve posts in a timely fashion and both pay promptly. While the payout amounts may not be huge, they do add up and since it doesn’t take someone like me very long to type out a post, it’s easy money.
So take it from me, research your employer carefully before you ever write that first post! Now go out there and get get paid to blog!
