When contemplating a new theme for your blog or new look for your website, do you ever consider purchasing custom software for it?

I’m of mixed feelings myself.

So far, I’ve been able to find free themes that I can tweak to suit my needs, but my time to do those things is rather limited now.  I may have to purchase one in order to get the look and feel that  I want.

If you’ve purchased a custom wordpress theme or website template, what was your experience? Did you know pretty much what you wanted going in and just had the developer make the site to your specs or did they submit a couple of designs for your review?

What price range should you be expected to have to pay?

Developers — you chime in here too. Tell me what you want from the client –what makes the job easy and what makes it difficult. What pricing structure do you use and why.
