I’ve been using the WordPress plug-in CommentLuv just about since this blog started. It’s a way of giving back to my commenters a bit of link “love” in that it pulls in your last post when you leave a comment here and provide your URL to your blog in the appropriate spot.
Well, they’ve rolled out a new version of CommentLuv recently and are celebrating by running a contest.
Yes, the plug-in is free and they’re giving away prizes too… how great is that?
All anyone has to do to be in with a chance of winning is leave a relevant comment on any of your posts during the contest. This should increase comments to ALL the blogs who are CommentLuv enabled and give everyone the chance to win some great prizes simply by being part of your community. And this blog is registered as a contest site!
How does someone win?
They comment on your blog and if they’re a winner, their last blog post will come back as a prize notification. They click that after it has been submitted and published on your site and enter their details on the claim page here to receive the prize.
What other benefits are there?
People will be using the latest verison of the plugin so decreased support requests and more happy users.
Comment authors will be encouraged to register their url and enter a description so all CommentLuv blogs will be able to show their information when they comment increasing the value of using CommentLuv for all blogs.
More people will be exposed to the greatness that is CommentLuv and it will be installed and used by more people
What are a registered blog owner’s requirements?
? You need to have your site URL registered and verified at CommentLuv.com.
? You must have a profile description entered.
? Your CommentLuv plugin must be at version 2.5.4
? Your CommentLuv settings must have click tracking and heart info box enabled (default)
? Your CommentLuv settings must have your CommentLuv member ID entered
? You should make a post on your site to inform your readers that your site is part of the contest and give instructions or links to instructions for how your readers could win. (see below)
? You need to make it clear that spam comments could see the person spamming being banned from the entire contest.(you guys take note of this!)
What are my sites visitors requirements?
? They must be registered at CommentLuv.com and have their site url registered and verified.
? They must also have a profile description entered at CommentLuv.com.
? They cannot spam.
? They do not need to have CommentLuv installed on their own site. It would be nice if they make a post about winning the prize on their site and link back to the site where they won the prize (your blog, not commentluv.com)
What if someone is spamming to increase their chances?
You need to report this immediately so I can release the hounds! seriously, comment spam is a bane of my life and as such, anyone reported and found to be spamming will lose all chances of winning any prize on any contest by CommentLuv.com. If a comment is spam AND it has a winning notification please send the entire comment content to me and I will arrange for another prize to be awarded to one of your commentators (probably the next person who commented after the spam comment – provided they qualify)
How long will the contest run?
For as long as the prizes last! (Now THAT‘s a contest!)

@Glorie — if you have the automatic update (which I think is built into WP2.6.3 now), you only have to put in the URL for the download and it will do the rest. That should by-pass your actual computer itself and use your webhost server.
I absolutely love everything about Commentluv – I left blogger so that I could be a part of it. My blog is also running this contest and I’m thrilled by it all
