My Sister Retired

Posted by ê¿ê under Women

Monday was my sister’s last day on the job. She spent 44 years of her life on that job.

FORTY-FOUR YEARS

That to me is mind boggling.

And the truly sad thing is, she hated nearly every minute of it. I can’t remember a single conversation with her where she said she liked something about her job, her co-workers, her bosses — never. 44 years spent hating one of the most significant parts of your life.

Well, I certainly hope that now she’s retired, she will take some time to discover something she CAN like. I’ve suggested a couple of things to her. She doesn’t drive (that’s another mind boggler - how do you reach the age of 62 and have never learned how to drive??) or own a car, so any traveling she does would have to be by some form of public transportation. She likes NASCAR, country music, the beach and shopping, so she could take a tour to Branson, MO, get one of those Branson rentals to stay in and shop, visit the Silver Dollar City or Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede and then head to Florida and the beach before it gets too hot. Maybe my other sister would go with her.

Whatever she decides to do, she needs to get a life, don’t you think?? 44 years, hating your job and never learned how to drive a car. She’s got to be the weirdest person on earth — no I take that back — those guys who have dolls for friends are weirder (and sadder).

44 years…….

Pat King’s Fitness Life Club

Posted by ê¿ê under Women

The Pat King’s Fitness Life Club blog is, as it’s title suggests, the ultimate testimonial to Pat’s philosophy of fitness and well-being. So join me on your stationery bike and let’s take a virtual tour through Pat King’s Fitness Life Club!

Far from giving the ho-hum much repeated stuff (read boring) about diet and exercise, Pat talks about building "mental muscle" through meditation. He incorporates interviews from other people who tell how they accomplished their weight loss and maintain their weight at a healthy level. He gives tips on natural body building which uses no drugs or hormones. He emphasizes the need for a natural, healthy lifestyle in Americans today.

Pat’s blog covers such topics as injuries, martial arts, using herbs in your diet and to boost immunity, he stresses the importance of keeping hydrated (that’s one area I do very poorly in). He tells you how bodybuilding competitions are judged and scored and as a competitor, he gives you the picture from the inside of bodybuilding competition, not some overview like you would get from a reporter.

Even if you’re not "into" diet and exercise, there’s something on this blog that would be of interest to you.

Pat’s passion for a healthy life is carried out through his own examples. He’s not a college graduate, but is a certified dietician and Judo/Ju Jitsu instructor. He’s studied martial arts for over 15 years, mastering them and going on to teach them. He’s been a Real Estate investor which profession actually gave him the money to start his chain of fitness centers. He is an entrepreneur worthy of study.

Pat provides you with an exercise plan which takes core exercises that target specific areas of your body enabling you to see improvement quickly. This encourages you to continue down the road to good health. He has recipes for healthy meals, gives you valuable eating tips to help you trick you body into thinking you’re eating a ton of food when in reality, you’re eating less and more healthy foods. There are also sections on Senior Health, After Pregnancy, Combating Stress, Cycling, Running and many, many more.

Pat is also an active member of the EntreCard community, both through card drops and advertising as well as being a valued contributor to the forums.

Photo Collections

Posted by ê¿ê under Women

I love pictures. I stumble a fair number of photo sites and routinely visit about 8 Entrecard sites that are photographers. Most of these sites are ones where the site owner is the photographer, but there’s one site in particular who collects photos and videos from around the world and displays them in a tasteful and artistic manner on his blog. That site would be Flickzzz

One word of caution to this blog owner — I think I would be providing photo credits of the photographers (and or obtaining permission and stating that you have it somewhere on your blog) of the images you’re displaying. In most countries, unless specifically stated on the page where you obtained them that they are free use, photographs are copyright  protected material and subject to laws pertaining to such.

Anyway, there are some fantastic images on this blog. Several caught my eye as I was looking through it while dropping Entrecards today. One in particular is titled "Beautiful Bridges",  and truly the bridge is a beautiful example of stonework, but if you look at the environment the bridge is set in, there are some elements in this photo in addition to the lovely bridge that will just take your breath away.

Another image that struck me as having more to it than you see at first glance is titled "Black Background" — I’m going to let you click that link and see if you agree with me.

20623 When you visit a blog like Superficial Gallery, you have no choice but to see the photos there unless you have image loading turned off or are blind. But it’s the articles that should get your attention. They cover a variety of subjects from the 10 best naked prostitute scenes in movies (complete with links to videos of said scenes) to a riveting look into the Apollo Space mission of 1965!

Besides the photos of celebs and models, Acadia also finds photos of interest (such as the cool ad trucks) and videos as well. His unique brand of writing combined with a very well developed (if twisted) sense of humor make his site a must read.

And when you visit, be sure to join and check out the forum where you’ll be treated to more zaniness from our King of Queens, Acadia.

Please note, this site is NOT SAFE FOR WORK!
