Real Estate woes

Posted By ê¿ê on July 30th, 2007

I don’t know what the California mortgage rate is, but I’ll bet it’s higher than anywhere else in the country. It just stands to reason — everything else is higher there! The average price of a home in California is $200,000! That’s double most other places. What with the recent mortgage debacle on Wall Street, any mortgage is now hard to get, so rates have to go up some, otherwise the mortgage companies are going to go out of business as they try to recover from defaulted loans. The news is not good for real estate this year.

Insurance scams

Posted By ê¿ê on July 30th, 2007

I’ve recently received brochures trying to sell me no exam life insurance. I kind of look on life insurance as a betting game — they’re betting I’ll live longer than I’m betting I will. Since I’m getting to the age where stuff happens, most insurance companies want a physical before they will accept my check showing that I’m not in imminent danger of croaking once their name is on the dotted line. No exam life insurance doesn’t require an exam, but boy howdy, do they want a chunk of money for that “priveledge”!

No thanks, guys. I’ll just muddle along and get that exam if I feel the need to gamble my money away this way.

Now they also sell software, computers, printers, office furniture, telephones, do printing, collating and binding! With the power of volume buying, large office supply houses now provide competitive pricing on many staple items (such as staples! :) ) as well as provide custom services such as designing your office for ergonoimic efficiency. No, it’s not just a place to buy paper and envelopes any more!

The New Nashville

Posted By ê¿ê on July 30th, 2007

Branson Missouri is the new Nashville. Every country singer worth his or her salt is performing there these days. Not that the appeal and importance of Nashville has died or anything, but developers and promoters have found a uniqueness about this town that brings to country music a breath of fresh air. Besides being home to the new country, Branson also has much to offer people looking for a vacation in an out of the way place that has just a touch of Western flair to it, yet is modern and convenient.
