Well, hubby has finally talked me into taking a vacation this year. We usually just take a day here and a day there, stretching long weekends even longer, but this year he wants to take a whole week and go somewhere to relax and have some fun. It has a certain appeal, I have to admit.

I think we want to go somewhere we can do some boating. We haven’t done any fishing in years and I think that might be some fun. Maybe we can take the camper to some lake resort somewhere up in the mountains, rent a boat and some fishing gear and spend a couple of days just floating around. Yep, that sounds like just the ticket!

I remember the first time I took communion. I had finally decided to take Jesus as my savior (I think I was about and that was probably the first serious decision I had ever made in my life. It certainly was one that has impacted my life the most. My chosen religion (Disciples of Christ) did not celebrate that event with first communion gifts like some religous sects do, but I did receive a Bible with my name inscribed in calligraphy inside when I graduated high school some 10 years later (which I still have to this day). When my granddaughter made the same decision and accepted her first communion, I made sure she had a memento of the day. I hope and pray that the Lord keeps her close as I fear she will need His guidance throughout her life.

Ken’s birthday is coming up pretty soon and as usual, I am stuck for something to buy him for it. He HAS to be the hardest man on earth to buy for! Then when I DO buy something for him, he makes this big deal about how I should have spent my money on something else! Geez! Why can’t he realize that I enjoy doing things for others and that his griping about my spending money on him just takes that joy away?? What is it about some people that they just can’t accept a gift gracefully (or a compliment come to that).

I think I will have to get him something for his truck. I mean, that’s probably the most prized possession he owns, so getting some accessory for it will mean the most. Maybe a truck rack or tool box……
